Starting out as a few weekly tournaments, The Royal Sharks Poker Club has now grown into a huge community of over 200+ enthusiastic poker players all coming together to play as often as possible

Location
The Royal Sharks Poker Club currently provides a regular Thursday night tournament (8pm start), in addition to ad-hoc weekend tournaments and cash games, hosted at The Arches Bar & Restaurant in Nuneaton, CV11 6NL
Facilities
Hosted in a private room at The Arches, our members will have access to a fully licensed private bar, serving both drink and food in addition to providing a casino-style 10 seater feature table!
Parking
There is ample parking available on the left side of the pub. However there is also free parking on the streets surounding The Arches and also a free car park located at the Craft Centre on Avenue Road, CV11 4JS.
The nearest pay & display car park is located at the Pingles Leisure Centre on Avenue Road, CV11 4LX
The Team
The Royal Sharks Poker Club was originally founded in Nuneaton by a team of experienced poker enthusiasts, Martyn Everitt, Aaron Wain and Susan Wills
Aaron is the treasurer for the club and our resident king of side games.
His interest in poker began at a young age, although his opportunities to play competitively remained dormant until the early 2020's when he was persuaded to join the local pub game when it opened. He won his first game and went on to qualify for the Regionals two seasons in a row! Sadly, he was unable to attend any of them.
He's always creating interesting side games and activities to provide a varied experience for the players. You'll typically find him dealing them out pre-game and during the breaks, so why not head down and give them a try?
Martyn is the committee Chairman and also the main Tournament Director for the club.
His enthusiasm for poker grew back in 2008, where he played local games around Nuneaton. After getting a taste for the game, he began being a TD at a few pubs, with the latest one being The Arches in 2023.
He's always coming up with different poker game creations and will often be the mastermind behind the larger weekend games the club runs. But, he doesn't just run the games, he plays too! He's made it to 2nd place at the Regionals in 2018 and also finished 62nd out of 1,765 players in the Goliath 2011.
Susan is the secretary of the club and she runs the poker blackout.
Susan first fell in love with poker when she was a child watching her family play every Sunday on her grandparents kitchen table. Her dad was happy to teach her the game, and she has never looked back since.
Susan first played in Nuneaton in 2023 where she won her first game and came second in the league for that season. She has continued to win games and in 2024 she won a seat to her first nationals, after coming in second at the regionals game, just missing out on a ticket to Las Vegas after 2 hours battling heads up.
